Whoa! Where have I been?

Is there a job where you can be paid to attend concerts but like that's it? There's no write up in a paper or magazine and no blogging, just concert attending. I could really get into that! I'm sitting here listening to NPR's feed of My Morning Jacket performing at SXSW. I wanna be there! Why am I not there?! All I need are hotel accomodations, beer & food money and tickets to get into all the good shows! Is that too much to ask?!

Kids, if you don't own Cat Power's Jukebox, go out and get yourself a copy. I think it's worth it (no matter what Pitchfork says). It's more polished than anything I've heard by her which I'm sure some people can take issue with. It's loungey but not in the cheesy Wayne Newton way. Some of the songs make me feel like a washed up dame in some cabaret and I like that! I owned her first set of covers and to tell you the truth, she put me to sleep. I liked her Moby Grape and Velvet Underground covers the most. On this album, though, I like each song. Each one I can get into. Her voice is smokey and her phrasing is great. Something about the sound of the music is moat-y to me. If she did nothing but cover other people's songs I'd love her just the same!
